چکیده

Abstract We examine the robustness of color–color selection quiescent galaxies (QGs) against contamination dusty star-forming using latest submillimeter data. selected 18,304 QG candidates out to z ∼ 3 commonly adopted NUV – r J based on high-quality multiwavelength COSMOS2015 catalog. Using extremely deep 450 and 850 μ m catalogs from JCMT SCUBA-2 Large Programs, S2COSMOS STUDIES, as well Atacama Millimeter/submillimeter Array submillimeter, VLA GHz, Spitzer MIPS 24 catalogs, we identified luminous, dusty, among candidates. also conducted stacking analyses in images look for less-luminous By cross matching GHz data, were able identify a subgroup “IR-radio-bright” QGs that possess strong signals. The potential these luminous accounts approximately 10% color-selected In addition, there exists spatial correlation between at ≲60 kpc scale. Finally, found high fraction radio active galactic nuclei (AGNs) < 1.5. Our data show AGNs, which may suggest connection quenching process radio-mode AGN feedback.

Submillimeter-selected Galaxies

The first generation of submillimeter(submm)-wave surveys are being carried out using the 450/850-μm SCUBA camera at the JCMT on Mauna Kea. These surveys are potentially sensitive to galaxies at very high redshift, and the galaxies that have been detected so far appear to contribute the greater fraction of the mm/submm-wave background radiation intensity measured by COBE. In order to understand...

AGN Zoo and Classications of Active Galaxies

We review the variety of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) classes (so-calledAGN zoo") and classification schemes of galaxies by activity types based on their optical emission-line spectrum, as well as other parameters and other than optical wave-length ranges. A historical overview of discoveries of various types of active galaxies is given, including Seyfert galaxies, radio galaxies, QSOs, BL Lace...

Clustering of Submillimeter - Selected Galaxies

Using accurate positions from very deep radio observations to guide multi-object Keck spectroscopy, we have determined a substantially complete redshift distribution for very luminous, distant submillimeter(submm)-selected galaxies (SMGs). A sample of 73 redshifts for SMGs in 7 fields contains a surprisingly large number of ‘associations’: systems of SMGs with Mpc-scale separations, and redshif...

Near-infrared Colors of Submillimeter-selected Galaxies

We report on deep near-infrared (NIR) observations of submillimeter-selected galaxies (SMGs) with the Near Infrared Camera (NIRC) on the Keck I telescope. We have identified K-band candidate counterparts for 12 out of 15 sources in the SCUBA Cluster Lens Survey. Three SMGs remain nondetections with K-band limits of K > 23mag, corrected for lensing. Compensating for lensing we find a median magn...

Mid-infrared Spectroscopy of Candidate Agn-dominated Submillimeter Galaxies

Spitzer spectroscopy has revealed that ≃ 80% of submm galaxies (SMGs) are starburst (SB) dominated in the mid-infrared. Here we focus on the remaining ≃ 20% that show signs of harboring powerful active galactic nuclei (AGN). We have obtained Spitzer -IRS spectroscopy of a sample of eight SMGs which are candidates for harboring powerful AGN on the basis of IRAC color-selection (S8μm/S4.5μm > 2; ...
